A gap in the market

Initially starting out as a plumber, plumbing for another trade cast iron radiator company, our director Peter Donoghue saw a gap in the market for a polished finish.

In 2012 he created “Pete’s polishing services” and began creating a hand polishing service for cast iron radiators in a barn on a farm in Cheshire. Self-taught he spent many hours and days perfecting the art of hand polishing and began hand polishing for trade companies in the cast iron radiator sector and then made the natural progression into retail.

Taking business to the next level

A one man band who set up his own working area using wooden pallets and hand polishing cast iron radiator sections had the drive to take his business to the next level.

Fast forward a year he left the farm and opened his first unit and also employed another member of staff, who combined would fulfill the polishing demands that increasingly grew.

2014, the year Radrestore was born. A rebrand making way for not only a hand polished finish, but restoration of old original cast iron radiators too. Over the years Peter and his staff educated themselves on the tools and methods required to handle these historical cast iron radiators, some to which other trade companies send over to Radrestore.

Flourishing year on year and now having a firm stance in the cast iron radiator industry and being at capacity, in 2016 Radrestore moved into a larger unit in Greater Manchester, employing further staff each trained in every aspect of the polishing and restoration stages. The scale up made way to house further equipment to offer more polishing finishes and more restoration work.

Radrestore then went onto selling fully restored original cast iron radiators as well as restoring them for customers, keeping stock of many vintage radiators sold to him from salvage yards, builders developers from relationships he had built up over the years.

2020 a year many found difficult

It forced Radrestore to think and work differently, but this was not going to stop Peter and his team achieving more, so much so that leading on to 2023 Radrestore now has 8 members of staff, Peter’s wife Hannah is now helping head the business.

Offering even more finishes, both buying and selling original and reproduction cast iron radiators while continuing providing services to other trade companies. We’ve had the pleasure of restoring some exquisite graded Manor houses, hotels and developments over the years, and we don’t plan on stopping now!
